The creation of the World Wide Web and similar services, mostly developed by scientists at universities and other public research institutions, is changing communication in the modern research community. The establishment of global  communication networks is reflected by the formation of international research networks, where scientists try to answer important contemporary questions beyond the borders of countries and cultures.

Together with internationally renowned institutions the Welfenlab works on joint projects,  facilitates exchanges of students and scientists and shares know-how.
