The satisfying simulation of surfaces of real fabrics is notwithstanding intensive efforts an unsolved problem. Within the HAPTEX project some procedures were developed, which used height profiles for calculating the output of simulations done by a tactile display. Methods were examined in this master thesis, how a simulation can be calculated without a height profile. The values of different parameters, which are determined by test persons, are compared with each other. The results of the test series show that some subjects selected similar attitudes of parameter and thereby created different concentration areas in the range of parameter for each used fabric. The results are ambiguous, but are promising that the use of memory-complex height profiles can be decrepit in the future.
