Curriculum Vitae

Karl-Ingo Friese studied Mathematics with focus on Computer Science at the University of Hannover. He wrote his Diploma Thesis on the topic: "Surface Reconstruction of Volume Models based on Discrete Data" and finished his studies 2002. Since then he is working as a Senior Research Assistant at the Departement of Computer Graphics, Institute of Man-Machine-Communication at the Leibniz Universität Hannover. During that time he wrote his PhD thesis with the title "Development of a Platform for 3D Visualization and 3D Segmentation of Medical Data" (YaDiV).

Beside his research, he is especially interested in teaching and supervision of students. In 2007 Ingo Friese was as "Organisation Chair" responsible for the planing and organisation of the Cyberworlds 2007 International Conference and is currently a member of the Program Committee of CW 2011.

Research

My research interests fall into the topic of scientific visualization, in the current project on the visualization of medical data. At the moment I am developing a visualization- and segmentation software for DICOM files, which was also the subject of my PhD thesis.
